Anorexia: A condition where one no longer feels his or her hunger.
All of us are starving for God; this is a fact. I would surmise, though, that many of us are suffering from a kind of spiritual anorexia. Because we feed so infrequently upon God and His Word, we no longer feel our hunger for Him or to be with His people.
What about you? Do you feel your hunger for God?
I want to urge you to get in touch once again with your hunger for God. Do it by putting yourself in close proximity to God and His people. Spend time in His Word—even if it's just a few minutes each day. Talk with God about your life, and ask Him to help you feel your hunger for Him. If you haven't been to church in a while, go this Sunday.
God's the Author of our hunger; He's also the satiation of it. Writing from my own experience, nothing in life compares with the experience of feeling like you're starving to death while at the same time being filled to overflowing with God Almighty.
"Blessed are the pour in spirit," Jesus said, "for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Mt 5:3). Embrace your poverty of spirit, let yourself feel your hunger for God, and feed on Him. Feed on who He is as well as His Thoughts and Feelings about the events of your day, the people around you, and even your own life.
God's peace to you...
