Doing What Others Won't

Everyone wants something. But few are willing to pay the price to get what they want. The reason? They don't want it badly enough.
What about you? What do you want in terms of your personhood—be it physical, mental, or spiritual?
Asking and answering that question is really important. Asking and answering the second question (How badly do you want it?) is just as important.
So I ask you, What do you want? And how badly do you want it? Are you willing to pay the price (read, "do the work") to get what you want?
There's an old saying I love and follow whole-heartedly: I will do today what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.
Desire means little if the drive to get what you want doesn't exist. In fact, I'd like to make the argument that if the drive isn't there, either you don't want whatever it is you say you want or (and this is probably more accurate) you haven't truly defined what it is you want. All of us go after what we want. Often, one of our problems is we're too quickly satisfied by lesser things.
Define what you want CLEARLY and SPECIFICALLY. And then go after it with everything you've got. What's the use of having desire if you don't pursue what you want?
Many years ago, I decided what I wanted, and I chose then and there to go after it. Decades later, the desire is still there. Not only has it not wained, it's grown stronger, more focussed, more resolute. Yes, I pay the price every moment of every day with no days off. That's what it means to want something and then go after it.
I'll leave you with something Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness) said to his son Christopher: "If you want something, go get it. Period."
Peace...
