Romans 8:21 Meditation

Text (Ro 8:21, NIV):

"...that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God."

Amplified Rendering:

In this return to the Father, this coming back home, a new chapter in earth's history has begun. Similar to the way humankind's fall brought consequences to the entirety of creation, our return home brings with it the germ of a creation-wide renewal. In this collateral effect, the promises of eventual and ultimate liberation are bestowed not just upon us but on the whole of creation. A day is coming, O beloved, when everything under heaven and on earth will be set right and remade anew(1). Only it will be a redeemed dignity; one that remembers the corruption of sin and separation but that's been resurrected, remade, and repurposed to a new and glorified existence—an existence, mind you, that can never again be cut-off or snuffed-out. Oh, dear friends, a glorious peace is coming! Take heart, and comfort each other with these truths.

Consecrating Prayer:

Holy Father...

The Scriptures read that a new heaven and earth are coming. Even though I can hardly comprehend what that all means, I long for that day, O God. More than that, I wish with all my heart to thank You for all You've done to make this new life possible. Until that day, I place my life in Your Hands.

In the Name of Jesus, I declare these things...

Amen.
